A motorcycle battery may lose power through deterioration or because of external circumstances like being stopped over long periods of time in low temperatures. Given the case, it may be necessary to charge the battery of the motorbike. You can do it yourself but it is a task that involves some risks so you have to be very cautious when doing so. In OneHowTo we will now explain in detail how to charge the battery of a motorcycle.

  • Screwdriver, motorcycle battery charger.
Steps to follow:

Before you start to charge the battery of your bike disconnect the terminals: first negative and then positive.

If it is a battery that requires maintenance you will also have to remove the caps. Otherwise, it is not necessary to open the caps.

Then you can proceed to wire the charger, which must not be connected to the network. The red wire goes in the positive and the black in the negative.

Then connect the motorcycle battery charger to the network.

Regarding the intensity of the load, ensure that it never reaches over one-tenth of the total battery capacity; you have to know this information before starting. The process takes about 4 hours or more.

Once the battery of the motorbike is charged remove the charger. When you reconnect to the terminals of the battery do it in the following order: first the positive pole and then the negative one.
