The first thing you need to do in order to clean your air filter, is to locate the air filter in your car. You'll find it in the engine - normally inside a dark plastic box that has a plastic tube sticking out.

Once you've removed your air filter, you'll be able to see all the dirt that it has filtered out, showing how effective the filter actually is. Then, you can simply clean it with a vacuum cleaner.

To make sure you get all the dirt off all the parts, use a lightly damp cloth to clean the inside, making sure not to apply any pressure or to scrub.
