How to cancel Vehicle Registration in India

- 2. The documents submitted during registration were false. This could include falsified proof of ownership or altered identification numbers.
- 3. The engine number or chassis number are different from the number entered in registration certificate. Such discrepancies can lead to legal complications.
- 4. The registering authority is satisfied that the vehicle is removed out of India permanently. This could happen if the vehicle is exported or transferred to another country.
- 5. The vehicle is beyond reasonable repairs and if used, the vehicle can cause danger to public. Vehicles deemed unsafe pose significant risks to road users.

Procedure of Registration Cancelation
- 1. At first, contact your registering authority. They will guide you through the necessary steps and provide the required forms.
- 2. Then, the registering authority will give notice by R.P.A.D. to you to make representation. This is an opportunity for you to present your case before any decision is finalized.
- 3. If the Registering Authority is satisfied after hearing, then your vehicle registration will be cancelled. This step confirms that all criteria for cancellation are met.
- 4. Then the registering authority will forward the report and the certificate of registration to the original registering authority for cancellation of registration. This ensures that all records are updated accordingly.
- 5. When the registration cancellation is completed, the registering authority will send it to you in writing. Then you have to surrender the certificate of registration of your vehicle. This formalizes the cancellation process and removes the vehicle from the active registry.
